I laid everything out carefully using a bubble to align with the trailer cross belt line, and positioned the bracket on a relatively flat part near the bottom of the available space. Revealed to you is more crappy wiring ( There is 6 inches of free hull area below the LED riding lights and lots of room to maneuver if you stand on a small step stool. The only tricky part is behind the pantry insert.Īccess to the inside of the rear wall of the hull is easy once you lower the two side panels and pull down the insulation. Running the coax is easy since there is a continuous wiring "trough" all the way along the left side. It has easy access from the 6 inch round port in the head cabinet. The technology is plenty reliable enough for a small truck like this, so if it claims to be compatible then there's a good chance it'll work out fine. But aside from that I get a strong signal and clear picture just as good as if I had gone through the effort to run a wired camera. The camera I bought included a standalone monitor that was already paired to the camera, so if anything could go wrong then it's the pairing part. I can't speak for the quality of the Garmin unit. Once I redid the wiring and switched to LED reverse bulbs the problems went away. I had incandescent reverse bulbs at the time, and a few poorly-spliced wires from some previous owners' experiments. Possibly not an issue for everyone, but in my case the connection to the camera was a bit flaky for the first few days I had the camera installed. I tied the antenna to the existing wire loom that runs under the bed to the tail lights, no signal problems. All they need is a 12v power source for the camera, and once the camera has power it can be paired to a head unit or standalone monitor/receiver.
